|Manual Handling Courses
We are a training company based in Medway who specialise in health and safety, and we understand the importance of manual handling as it invoives the moving and handling of just about everything in life generally.
The usual candidates for manual handling training would be those managing heavy loads such as warehouse men, labourers, porters, groundsmen etc. However, office workers who are mostly sitting at work stations are not exempt from manual handling injuries or manual handling accidents. To prevent injuries in and out of the workplace we run several manual handling courses: basic manual handling (introduces manual handling techniques to employees to minimise risk of injury), manual handling for management and risk assessors (inlcudes manual handling risk assessments and enables management to induct new staff until formal training can be given), manual handling train the trainer (manual handling instructor course), facilitating in-house training.
How do you benefit from manual handling training?
We have all been moving and handling loads for years and our manual handling courses educate individuals on how the machine (their body) works, enabling them to make qualified decisions for themselves, applying manual handling techniques, preventing manual handling accidents and injuries
Time off through manual handling injuries is only second after the common cold.
42% of all reportable accidents are through manual handling.
*9.308.000 days were lost by businesses due to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).
24,000 workers needed open back surgery for disc issues.
*These are statistics from the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) 2009/10)
