Health and Safety Training - Level 2 & Level 3 (CIEH)

We all have health and safety responsibilities in the workplace and only when everyone contributes to the wellbeing of their colleagues we will achieve an injury and incident free environment.

Last year 171 employees were killed in the workplace and 118,000 employees were reported as having suffered major injuries.  In this day and age this is unacceptable!

Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace  (Health and Safety certificate)
This Level 2 course is aimed at all employees, which is frequently used as workplace training to make it specific to your organisation.  This one day course gives a good overview of current health and safety legislation and the employees responsibilities.

Training includes:

  • Health and safety law
  • Accident prevention and reporting
  • Risk assessment (an understanding of the process)
  • Workplace safety:
    • Work equipment
    • Electricity
    • Fire prevention
    • First aid
    • Working at height
    • PPE, etc.

Level 3 Health and Safety in the Workplace (Health and Safety certificate)
This Level 3 course is for those managing health and safety e.g. safety coordinators, owners of small businesses, plus anyone who has responsibilities, as a competent person, in a specific area.

Training includes:

  • Health and Safety Law (Acts, Regulations, ACoP and HSG),
  • Accident prevention, investigation, reporting.
  • Risk assessments:
    • General risk assessment
    • Specific risk assessment e.g.
      • Manual Handling
        Work equipment, etc.
  • The role of a supervisor:
    • Motivation
    • Handling conflict
    • Monitoring and managing Health and Safety
    • Communication with management and employees.

The secret of health and safety lies not in the gimmick, but ensuring people are always alert.
You can have all the fancy schemes you like but at the end of the day you need to keep health and safety on the agenda.
    From Brian Rylance, British Aerospace
